This challenge is
hosted by Roof Beam Reader and will be held along 2013. The point is
to read 12 books from your TBR pile during the year.
I'd like to combine
this challenge with other challenges that I have joined such as
Vintage Mystery Reading Challenge, Let's Read Plays, and also a
challenge I host myself, Narrative Poem Reading Challenge. Here's my
list for this particular challenge:
- Conrad, Joseph – The Secret Agent
- Defoe, Daniel – Robinson Crusoe
- LeBlanc, Maurice – The Hollow Needle
- Pushkin, Alexander – Eugine Onegin
- Queen, Ellery – The Chinese Orange Mystery
- Spencer, Edmund – Faerie Queene
- Sheridan – School for Scandal
- Wilde, Oscar – An Ideal Husband
- William Shakespeare – The Rape of Lucrece
- William Shakespeare – Othello
- William Shakespeare – Two Gentlemen of Verona
- William Shakespeare – Venus and Adonis
Alternatives:
- Wilde, Oscar – The Importance of Being Earnest
- Euripides – The Trojan Women
Huft! Let's hope I can
do it.
I LOVE Robinson Crusoe. The Faerie Queene is also a must read. I actually haven't read any of the Shakespeare that you've listed, but I plan to get through his complete works at some point (I did read Othello, but I don't count it because I was young & don't really remember much about it). Also - if you get to your alternates or end up choosing one, The Importance of Being Ernest is HILARIOUS.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Actually I'm going to host a Robinson Crusoe readalong on March. I think I need advice.
DeleteShakespeare is one of my favourite poets. I can't wait to read his narrative poems.
Whoaa...what an impressive list! I'll read Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness next month. Good luck then with all your challenges. :) Mine is at my other blog http://bukubukufanda.blogspot.com/2012/11/2013-tbr-pile-challenge.html
ReplyDeleteWow..what a great list..i'm interested to see what your think about those 4 Shakespeare (i am currently reading Julius Caesar)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with JC. I have just finished it (again) this month. It's a wonderful play.
DeleteThis looks like an interesting challenge... I'm pretty sure you'll love Eugene Onegin! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm a little bit intimidated to read Russian literatures, but I will try my best. (And I guess the opera will be a great help for me too, don't you think? ;-))
DeleteI haven't read any of your list. But of course there are some plays in your list that I would read during next year.
ReplyDeleteOh, I loved Loved LOVED School For Scandal! I remembered doing it for school and actually thoroughly loving it. Saw the play a number of years ago and was just reminded again of my love for this play. Absolutely hilarious! I hope you love it too :D
