European Reading Challenge 2013 Wrap-Up

It's time for a wrap-up. I've been enjoying this challenge, and it opens my mind on how little I know about Europe and how invariable my choices are when it comes to books. When it comes to reading, I realise that I partially tend to choose English books before anything and place French on the second spot. I don't really favour Russian books, and I have no German ones at all. I had Greek play just because I had to read it for another challenge and I list Othello for Italy - an English play with so little reliable reference to the place anyway. 

So here's the list of books I managed to read. I didn't get the five stars I longed for, but at least I was almost there.

Shakespeare and Me Challenge

So it's all about Shakespeare. For those who know me well enough outside this blog, they will certainly understand how 'many fathoms deep I am in love' with the Bard. He is amazing. Thus, I want to challenge myself to read all his works, which is not easy, since I don't really like historical plays. Anyway, here's the list of his works, stolen from some web pages.

In this very blog, I have read and reviewd some of his works, which I will sign and link to this post presently. For some others, I have read them, but not yet written the review, since it's not easy for me to review his plays. Come now, admit it. People get degrees for writing a decent review of his plays, right? (I exaggerate a bit, but you see my point.) I will just mark those plays and write a review later on. This post is just some sort of reminder that I have read this and not yet read that.

So, despite my tight reading schedule, I commit myself into this challenge and hope I will be able to finish at least a book fitting the genre.

Historical Fiction Challenge

Hobby Buku hosts this 3-years challenge and I'm just tempted to join. Despite the amount of reading challenges I've joined this year, I cannot resist the temptation. Haha.

I'm going for the Librarian Level, which means I will read 10-15 HF books in 3 years. If I can manage, I will upgrade my level of participation. 

I join this on January 2013, it means the challenge will go through January 2015.

Around the World in 80 Books Challenge

Did you read the word “challenge”? Yes. I join another daunting yet interesting challenge, hosted by Stacey from Have Books, Will Travel. The fun of it lies in the rules that we can arrange ourselves, since the rules from the host is a little bit too much for me personally (sorry Stacey).

Here's the rule:

• I start this journey at January 1^st 2013 and thus the challenge will end at December 31^st 2018.
• I will count a book to one country only. If there are two countries or more in the setting, I'll put it to the one not in my list yet.
• I will try to make a research on the countries. Since I read mostly classics I think it would be more interesting to research on the historical setting as well, not just the country as it is today.
• I will separate the country research and the book review for convenience. (Maybe I won't be able to do this for every country, but I will try to do so as often as I can, when I have the time to makes such research and posts.)

Haha. Huft. With Classic's Club Project not yet finished and around 5 more challenges in my sleeves I still don't know what I'm going to do with this challenge. Let's hope I can manage.

2013 Challenges Compiled Together

I join so many challenges for next year. It has not even been a year of my blogging life, yet the excitement of joining challenges is irresistible. To make things easier, especially when updating books I have read, I'd like to put all those challenges in one post only.

This challenge is hosted by Bev@My Reader;s Block and will take place during 2013. I have decided to try joining it, since my classical journey started with Sherlock Holmes, which is also one of the mystery solvers. Sadly, I don't know much about mystery, and I hate scary stuff. So I put things here that hopefully are not very frightening, so that I can read them with much easiness of mind.

I pick 8 books to start, but I will add it to 16 if in later time I see that I can do more than that. Here's the list:
